Welcome to the Queens Park Community Council Website. The community
council area lies in the heart of Swindon's town centre and Old Town and
represents all the roads inside the boarders of Drove Road, Fleming
Way, Princess Street, Victoria Road and Union Row.
There are over 800 homes, one church, two schools, two nurseries,
two playschools, two pubs, several small businesses, the main
offices of Swindon Borough Council and only a short distance
from Swindon Town Football Club. It creates a thriving cosmopolitan
community with a good mix of young families and a relative
high proportion of elderly.
It has both the advantages and disadvantages of its town
centre location with the increasing problems of car parking and the growth of both bed sits and
the development of every available bit of land for residential
apartments.
The community council was first formed in 1982 and derives its name
from the unique Queens Park a 12 acre green park with lake
at the centre of the community area. An environmental beauty
in a very urban landscape.
We meet each month (7pm) at the Civic Offices, Euclid Street, Swindon.
New members are always made very welcome!
This website, kindly provided by Netintent.co.uk and the
first community council website in Swindon, aims to give everyone
an insight into our community and its history. For the resident
it provides an access point to local issues, the community
council and its work.
