New Central Library brings the new temporary Library to the Queens Park Area
Amid the good news of the new £10 million Central Library, we have an interesting temporary
library being created in the Paramount building in Princess street (former Nationwide
building behind the Civic offices).
The £1/2M scheme which will make use of the building
over 18 months while it is converted to apartments will see the bringing together of the
library and reference library. It will have toilets and one and a half miles of shelves.
A big improvement on the old temporary buildings at the Town Hall which have served us
for so many years and interestingly were supported by 250 lorry jacks!
