The Queen's Park Fountain was officially turned on by
the pupils of Holy Rood Infants School in the park on
March 5th.
The school, based in Durham Street, is on the
doorstep of the park. The fountain was made possible
by the Queens Park Community Council who applied for
funding from Community First.
The grant for environmental projects comes from the tax that
Council's pay when rubbish is dumped in landfill
sites. A similar grant paid for the renovation of the
band stand at the Town Gardens park in Old Town.
